As for actually becoming a foster parent, a foster care worker will inspect your home five to six times over a ten week period. During those visits, workers gather paperwork, interview the family members, inspect the home for safety, and fully explain the responsibilities of foster parenting. Training is also required prior to being certified, for example, my parents took a course where they attended a foster care class once a week for twelve weeks for their training.
Anyone could so simply become a foster parent with the proper lifestyle and training. Consider what an amazing experience this would be!

ReplyDeleteThis is a great topic for everyone to consider. I think about it often, especially since getting to know you family a little better recently (although I have known them pretty well for about 30 years). Your families openness to serving through fostering is inspirational. So many of us (myself included) talk about wanting to make a difference on earth while we are here. Selfless people like your parents actually do it AND WITH S SMILE. I know it isn't easy to take on another child. But, with the right priorities in life, anything is possible.
